Just when I thought it was safe to relax..

The last two weekends have been spent getting my stained glass snowflake ornaments ready to ship to the galleries for Christmas.

I have been making these snowflakes since 2006. They provided the seed money to allow me to grow my business and paid for the start up costs of my fabric dyeing business.  This year I made close to 100 of these beauties.

I can hardly wait to finish soldering so I can see them hanging in the sunlight.

So it is out of the frying pan and into the fire...Last night my husband and I started tearing into the walls of  our entryway so we can add insulation.  We live in an old farmhouse of an undetermined age.  Our entryway is an old porch that was enclosed.  In the winter the wind blows through the walls and into our living room.

As it is with every job we have taken on in this house we are finding questionable construction techniques that leave us scratching our heads.  I am afraid we have opened a 5 gallon can of worms with this project.  See that electrical outlet hanging from the ceiling?  It was not screwed to a stud like it should have been, no...It was held to the face of the old paneling with electrical tape.  Heaven help us!  I sure hope we find a properly framed structure underneath.  Wish us luck!

Hope you have a great weekend.

Chris

I love your snowflakes! I always wanted to learn how to do stained glass. Sending lots of good luck for your house project. I grew up in an old farmhouse and when my parents remodeled they found old newspapers stuffed in for insulation. :-o Have a great weekend!

The snowflakes are gorgeous Chris. You have enough talent for ten women. Hope everything is smooth sailing with your construction project.

What a great back-story to the snowflakes -- I'm encouraged to know that sometimes the small creations we make can provide the support we need for creating OTHER artful things in our lives. The snowflakes are beautiful -- I'm sure they're going to be a hit again this year.
