September 2012
Acrylic inks on white cotton fabric

Greetings!!!  Has it really been really been 4 months since I posted?  Yikes!

The Art Quilts Around the World blog is looking for new members to join in on their bi-monthly challenges.  I have been a member for 3 years and really enjoy this group.  I also love having a deadline to to push me to get a project finished.

There will be 6 challenges per year with the theme for each challenge announced 3 months prior to the due date.

As the blog states: "requirements only - enthusiastic art quilters. Beginners welcome!".

Follow this link to the blog and comment on the Call for Quilters post to join us!

You can also read more about my challenge quilt featured above and others on the Art Quilts around the World blog.

I hope you are finding time for creativity.  It is cold outside in Wisconsin and I am back at my sewing machine.  My husband's quilt just needs a binding.  Yay! I had leftover blocks so I made a smaller matching quilt to protect our sofa from our dog who likes to share the couch with us.

I started reading Jennifer Chiaverini's new book "The Giving Quilt" while I was on vacation last week.  I received an advanced copy from her publisher last month.  We were so busy on our trip that I hardly had time to read.  I can't wait to get back to the book! I am scheduled to be at the Homestead Cabin Retreat this weekend and may just curl up by the fire to finish the book instead of sewing.  I hear there may still be some spaces at the retreat this weekend if anyone is interested in joining us.

Something new:  I have been collecting names and e-mail addresses with the intention of sending out a newsletter for some time.  I will be publishing my first newsletter this week.  If you are interested in receiving monthly e-mails about new hand dyed products, sales, quilt shows and classes you can find a  link to sign up for my newsletter in the upper right hand corner of my blog.

I will be running a few sales on fabric, jewelry and stained glass snowflakes between now and Christmas.  Stay tuned for more to come.

Wishing good weather and calm forecasts for the rest of 2012!!

Chris

Your piece is beautiful, I love how it gives movement and depth. I want to try some art pieces, but for now I am working on christmas presents, so I will wait till after the holidays.

Gorgeous quilt! Love that FM stitch. I've been playing with different stitches tonight for a project and think I'll go try yours!
