I'm sure all of you that blog have met people in blog land that have touched your life. There are so many that have taught and shared their skills. Without these shared talents I would not have developed into the artist I am today. One of those people is Leslie McNeil of Marveles Art Studios.
Leslie and I met through mutual admiration of each others work. Leslie likes to dye and paint fabric but would really rather spend her time stitching. I love her stitching, grasp of color and mixed media pieces. This mutual admiration has developed into a lasting friendship of old time pen pals living in a modern age.
Last year I asked Leslie if she would quilt some faux leather with her glorious feathers so I could make a purse.
Some of Leslie's work also serves as the backdrop to my quilt jewelry pieces in my Dye Candy Shop.
The quilting in the first three photos of this post is from a recent piece I received from Leslie. Here is a link to the post she wrote about the work she did last year. Keep in mind she finished this quilting in 2012 just before she had cataract surgery (Leslie developed cataracts at an unusually early age)!!!
Take some time to visit Leslie's blog. She shares her feather quilting secrets in recent posts.
She is gifted and truly MarveLes!
If you would like to own some of Leslie's art work, she is currently having a sale in her Esty shop through August 15th. Leslie is offering 50% off any item over $100.00!!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
